A few years ago, I started looking into solar energy. Just like you, I started with an online search exploring on how I could save money with solar electricity.
I was shocked to see how much it cost to have solar panels installed at my house! The estimate I received was over $35,000 and the payback time for that was just way too long. I certainly didn’t have that kind of money, not even close.
I was resigned to the idea of paying the electric company each and every month until I met a friend who had a solution. Pictures followed by video tour. (tour starts at 0.50) This is an update to the solar shed. The main upgrades are an MPPT controller that should be giving me a 10-30% increase in efficiency and a wattsup style meter so that I can view system output in realtime. Also added a 2nd spare car battery in parallel temporarily as it was just sat in the garage not doing anything. On a very cloudy day the system now makes 10-15w, and in the two days that I fitted the upgrade peaked at about 85w when the sun came out. On a clear day it should make the full 100w the system is capable of with ease now.

(WITH FOOD IN THEM, YES I ATE THE FOOD.). ANYWAYS, I TOOK THE OLD STIRLING FAN APART TO SHOW THE NEXT STEPS AND HOW IT ALL FITS TOGETHER. ALSO WE WILL DO A DIAPHRAGM FOR THE SHORTER ONE. THIS WILL GIVE YOU A CHOICE. ALSO I WILL BE MAKING A PISTOM FROM AN OLD VALVE BODY FROM A TRANSMISSION. A MUST SEE. THIS IS A MACHINED PISTON THAT I WILL JUST CUT OFF THE VALVE BODY WITH A METAL BLADE ON A SKILL SAW. lol LOT’S OF FUN. BETTER THAN COFFEE. MUDDy

wish i had more pics and vid of the epoxy mixing and pouring, but it is pretty straight-forward, this was my first panel (full scale) that i made. i am glad i figured out a good epoxy the first time around, this stuff does not blush or wrinkle, but like i said, it is kind of expensive, 3/4 of a gallon (mixed) is what i poured on this one, so i have enough mix left for one more panel
